Nu 2 AQ – FS Discussions

FamilySearch Discussions in AQ

From the Review and Selectively Synchronize FamilySearch Person with Local Individual screen, you will now be able to view and add comments to discussions for individuals. We get to this screen by clicking the dark blue Family Tree icon of any linked person. This icon is available in either the Family view or the Pedigree view.

At the bottom of this screen, the Discussions button has an asterisk*. This is to show that the highlighted person has one or more discussions. Click the Discussions button. This brings up the FamilySearch Discussions about screen.

This shows that there is one discussion on this person.  Note the Start a New Discussion button. Click on this button. This brings up the Add a New Discussion on FamilySearch screen.

On this screen enter a title and a description, then click Save. This will bring up the FamilySearch Discussions about screen.

Here we see that the discussion we just started is one of two for this person. Since this is a live database, I’ll remove that new discussion.

If we instead had clicked on the Legacy Disputes topic, this is what we would have seen.

The text would have been expanded so that we could see the nature of the discussion. At the bottom of this discussion is the Write a comment tag. We can add to the discussion by clicking this tag.

Here we can enter our own comment as part of this discussion. Clicking Save returns us to the FamilySearch Discussions about screen, where we see that the comment we entered has been added to the discussion.

Since this is a live database, I will remove the comment. At the bottom of this screen is a My Notes/Sources button. The asterisk* on this button shows that we have Notes and/or Sources for this person. Clicking on this button gives us the Documentation for screen where we can review the documentation we have for this person on our Ancestral Quest file.

The discussion process helps us to communicate with our distant relatives, and come to an agreement on the lives of our ancestors.
